The Harvard University Archives is the oldest and one of the largest institutional academic archives in the nation.

The Harvard University Archives collects, organizes, preserves and provides access to a comprehensive record of more than 375 years of life at Harvard. From 17th and 18th century diaries and scientific observations to 21st century web sites, the Harvard University Archives’ collections comprise over 51,000 feet and 9 terabytes of University records and related historical materials.

This activity is tied integrally to records management services for Harvard University staff, administrators and faculty. Records management staff provide guidance and resources for all stages in the records and information lifecycle, from creating records through destruction of non-permanent records or transfer of permanent records to the Harvard University Archives.

Description: The Harvard University Committee on Human Rights Studies began its work in 2000 and ended its work on June 30, 2010. Among its goals were the development of undergraduate courses and University-wide coordination and communication on human rights. The work of UCHRS is now institutionalized into the collaborative work of the three human rights centers at Harvard: the Harvard University François-Xavier Bagnoud (FXB) Center for Health and Human Rights, the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy at the Kennedy School of Government, and the Human Rights Program at the Harvard Law School. The website of the Harvard University Committee on Human Rights Studies provides information on the committee's work, subsequent human rights work at Harvard, human rights studies, a weekly digest of human rights events and opportunities, and the Harvard Scholars at Risk Fellowship program. Description: A member of an international network of participating universities, the Harvard Scholars at Risk Program has provided sanctuary to dozens of professors, lecturers, researchers, artists, writers, and other intellectuals who are at risk. The risk may be related to the scholar’s work, but it may also be a consequence of the scholar’s ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or political opinions.
