The Harvard University Archives is the oldest and one of the largest institutional academic archives in the nation.

The Harvard University Archives collects, organizes, preserves and provides access to a comprehensive record of more than 375 years of life at Harvard. From 17th and 18th century diaries and scientific observations to 21st century web sites, the Harvard University Archives’ collections comprise over 51,000 feet and 9 terabytes of University records and related historical materials.

This activity is tied integrally to records management services for Harvard University staff, administrators and faculty. Records management staff provide guidance and resources for all stages in the records and information lifecycle, from creating records through destruction of non-permanent records or transfer of permanent records to the Harvard University Archives.

The Secret Court series looks at Harvard's queer century since then and reflects on the past, present, and future of LGBTQ+ life across Harvard University. Title: Robert Darnton : A Literary Tour de France

Description: Robert Darnton was educated at Harvard University (A.B., 1960) and Oxford University (B.Phil., 1962; D. Phil., 1964), where he was a Rhodes scholar. After a brief stint as a reporter for The New York Times, he became a junior fellow in the Society of Fellows at Harvard. He taught at Princeton from 1968 until 2007, when he became Carl H. Pforzheimer University Professor and Director of the University Library at Harvard. A Literary Tour de France offers an opportunity to explore the world of books on the eve of the French Revolution, bringing together material from the archives of the Société typographique de Neuchâtel, a publisher and wholesaler who provided all kinds of books to all parts of France from 1769 to 1789.

Title: Richard Wilson

Description: British-American physicist Richard Wilson (April 29, 1926-May 19, 2018) was Mallinckrodt Professor of Physics at Harvard. He joined Harvard University in 1961 as a physics professor and spent the next thirty years at Harvard focusing on nuclear and elementary particle physics. At Harvard he was a supporter of the Cambridge Electron Accelerator and the use of the Harvard Cyclotron for proton therapy for the treatment of cancer. Professor Wilson's website provides biographical information and information on science and the law, appearances at public hearings, publications, lectures, and the history of the Harvard University Cyclotrons. Description: Ousmane Kane, a scholar of Islamic studies and comparative and Islamic politics, joined Harvard Divinity School in July 2012 as the first Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Professor of Contemporary Islamic Religion and Society at HDS. From 2002 to 2012, he was an associate professor of international and public affairs at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs. He is a member of a number of professional organizations, including the African Studies Association of North America and the Council for the Development of Social and Economic Research in Africa. Professor Kane studies the history of Islamic religious institutions and organizations since the eighteenth century, and he is engaged in documenting the intellectual history of Islam in Africa. Professor Kane has also focused on the phenomenon of Muslim globalization. His book "Homeland Is the Arena: Religion, Transnationalism and the Integration of Senegalese Immigrants in America" (Oxford University Press, 2010) looks at the community of Senegalese immigrants to the United States in New York and the importance these immigrants assign to their religious communities for the organization of their lives. His other books include "Muslim Modernity in Postcolonial Nigeria" (Brill, 2003), "Beyond Timbuktu: An Intellectual History of Muslim West Africa" (Harvard University Press, 2016), and, most recently, "Islamic Scholarship in Africa. New Directions and Global Contexts" (James Currey, 2021). He has published articles in the Harvard International Review, Politique étrangère, Afrique contemporaine, African Journal of International Affairs, Cahiers d’Etudes Africaines, Islam et Sociétés au Sud du Sahara, and Religions.
