Description: Harvard University is the oldest institution of higher education in the United States, established in 1636 by vote of the Great and General Court of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Harvard has 12 degree-granting Schools in addition to the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study. The Harvard & the Legacy of Slavery presidential initiative, established in November 2019 and building on several years of work, is an effort to understand and address the enduring legacy of slavery with the University community. The Harvard and the Legacy of Slavery website provides information on research, events, grants, news, and leadership. Between July 2021 and April 2022, the contents of this website were on the main Radcliffe website. The final report of this initiative was posted to this new location on April 26, 2022.
